Generally, from the time the shoes leave your door, they will arrive again in 10-14 days. Once we receive and inspect your shoes, you can anticipate their completion and delivery within 5-7 business days. If you need a quicker turnaround, please specify your desired timeframe on the order form you include with your shoes. We will make every effort to meet your request, but please note that overnight express shipping charges may apply, starting at $69.95.

No, a prescription is not needed. You only need to determine the specific size of the shoe lift you require. You can communicate this information by filling out a brief order form, which should be returned to us along with your shoes.

At this time, American Heelers does not directly accept payments from medical insurance providers. Our pricing is designed to be affordable for most customers to pay out of pocket. However, we do provide our customers with comprehensive receipts that they can use to file a claim with their insurance companies independently.

You can send your shoes to us worry-free, and we’ll start working on them as soon as we receive them. Once your order is checked into our facility, we’ll create an electronic invoice and send it to you via email. Payment can be made online using a credit or debit card, or you can opt for payment over the phone. While sending a check via regular mail is an option, we don’t recommend it because we won’t be able to ship your order until the invoice is paid.

Absolutely, we customize all our lifts to size, even down to the exact millimeter. No leg length difference is too small or too large for us to accommodate.

If your shoe lift modification size exceeds 1 inch, American Heelers will cover the shipping and handling costs for both sending your shoes to us and returning them to you when you use our service. Additionally, any order comprising two or more shoes, submitted together in a single order, is also eligible for our free shipping program.

Our skilled craftsmen have extensive experience, and there are no shoe types to which we haven’t successfully applied a shoe lift. Feedback from these individuals often highlights the discomfort and pain associated with this solution for addressing leg length differences. The primary issue is that these inserts tend to shift and move within the shoe under the foot, leading to discomfort and pain.

Furthermore, heel lift inserts face a fundamental limitation. Shoe cavities typically have limited space to accommodate the foot, and they are usually snugly fitted with no extra room for inserts. Consequently, any leg length difference greater than ¼ inch cannot be adequately addressed with internal inserts and instead requires external shoe sole modifications for effective correction.

Absolutely, we specialize in serving motorcyclists with similar needs. Our solution involves modifying the soles of both the left and right motorcycle boots, typically adding around 1 to 1.5 inches. This modification significantly enhances your riding comfort and control.

Yes, we do install caliper plates for individuals who require braces that need to be attached to their shoes. This is a customized service, so please reach out to us to discuss your specific needs. We typically don’t keep caliper plates in stock, so customers who request this service often provide the caliper plate for installation.

Additionally, we can customize the lift with a lateral (outside) or medial (inside) wedge. This means that the lift can be higher on one side than the other to compensate for any foot favoring one side over the other. We can also create a customized buttress on the lateral or medial side of the shoe, which extends the shoe sole outward horizontally to provide additional support to that side.

Absolutely, we have extensive experience with golf shoes of all brands and styles. While we can’t make guarantees, we believe that our modifications can potentially improve your golf game by reducing your handicap by at least two strokes.

Certainly, this is a commonly requested service, particularly among our younger customers and parents with children involved in these sports. However, it’s worth noting that not all cleated shoes are suitable for splitting the sole, so it’s best to check with us before sending in that type of footwear.

Yes, we offer shoe modifications for infants and children.

Certainly, we have the capability to redo work done by others, and we can replace the lift with the new size you desire. In cases where there’s been a change in your leg length, we can adjust the shoe lift size accordingly to meet your new size requirement.

Absolutely, we can remove the modifications and restore your shoe to close to its original condition. The cost for this service is $60.00

When providing us with a shoe lift measurement, remember that we begin with both shoes in a neutral position, ensuring that the starting point is identical for both the left and right shoes. The measurement you provide indicates the amount we’ll add to the shoe to compensate for your leg length difference. After the adjustment, the shoe will be raised by the specified amount compared to its mate. This process guarantees consistency across different pairs of shoes. For instance, while a boot might start with a sole thickness of 2 inches and a tennis shoe with 3/4 inch, instructing us to add 2 inches to both will result in a 2-inch difference between the mates. Despite the boot being taller, the shoe lift correction will consistently accommodate your leg length difference.

If you’re interested in using our service from a country outside the United States, the most practical approach is to purchase shoes online from a US-based company that offers free shipping. When shipping these shoes to us from a third party, please ensure they are shipped in the customer’s name so that we can accurately reconcile the shipment upon arrival. It’s also important to inform us in advance which shoe (LEFT or RIGHT) from each pair sent to us requires the lift and specify the size of the lift needed. Additionally, please note that there is a return shipping and handling fee based on the location of the country for all international orders. Typically, international return shipping starts at $89.95

To achieve the most flexible result when adding a lift to a shoe, it’s important to start with a shoe that is already lightweight and flexible. This sets the foundation for a better outcome. Using the honeycombing method during the lift build can further reduce weight and increase flexibility. Additionally, wearing the shoe for a couple of weeks to break it in will help it move more naturally with your foot.

However, it’s important to understand that there is no perfect solution—adding a lift to correct leg length discrepancy (LLD) will always reduce the shoe’s original flexibility to some extent. The goal is to minimize that tradeoff with thoughtful choices in footwear and build technique.
